Who is the Realme X7 for?

In India, Xiaomi is currently leading the smartphone industry with its Indian subsidiary Redmi leading in the budget segment, where budget phones are the most sold. Realme, a spinoff of Oppo has made its name with its moderately-priced but feature packed offerings, and has been fairly successful in the segment. On the other hand, the Realme X1 is the star, a top-end smartphone that comes for the price of an average mid-range handset, and the Realme 2 Pro stands out for its value proposition, yet again a phone that comes for the price of a mid-range. Now, what if Realme wanted to put all of its eggs into one basket? That is exactly what it has done by announcing its latest offering, the Realme X7 Max.

Unboxing the Realme X7 Max

Realme’s ‘Max’ series is all about big phones with big battery Let’s face it. Just about every smartphone manufacturer is guilty of dumbing down their phone’s specifications to a point where they are no longer unique. We live in a world where chipsets like Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 845 and Huawei’s Kirin 970 have become so ubiquitous that the main distinguishing features are how much RAM and storage you have, or perhaps how long the battery lasts. To most consumers, no other phone is going to have an edge on battery life over another. When you consider that a lot of the software processes a screen on the smartphone are also running on the chipset, it is a tough problem to solve for the manufacturers, but it is one that they are definitely going to have to work on in the next few years.

The Design & Build

There’s a new Realme phone on the block. I’ve been playing with the Realme X7 Max for the last few days, and I have to say, this is a device that looks and feels like a budget phone. It’s got a comfortable, rounded metal chassis and a glass back. It feels sturdy, and it’s also splash proof. The fingerprint sensor is responsive, and it has one of the largest radars I’ve used on any budget smartphone. The 6.3-inch display has been made with Full HD+ screen tech, and the company says it’s pretty good at conserving power when in indoor use, and it even dims down a bit to save more energy when you’re watching video content.

The Camera

The Good Hardware Improvements Don’t Hurt Sleek Design Battery Life The Bad The Ugly After a few weeks of dealing with Realme’s Realme 2 Pro (review), I was fully expecting the company to follow the same model with its second mid-range device. However, it took them a while to reveal the Realme X7 Max. This device is aimed squarely at the Redmi Note 5 Pro (review) and Poco F1 (review) without even the slightest hint of the Realme 2 Pro (review). So, how does the Realme X7 Max fare in the category? Does the company manage to come up with an even more attractive mid-range device or is the X7 Max going to get lost in a sea of already established competitors? Let’s find out. What’s in the Box?

The Performance

Price: Rs. 15,990 Pros Affordable, All-Metal Body Top-End Camera Performance Cons The Display Quality Design Realme X7 Max Review: Should You Buy the Realme X7 Max? When we began thinking about reviewing the Realme X7 Max, we immediately thought of the Xiaomi Redmi Note 6 Pro, which had set the bar quite high in the budget segment. Realme, on the other hand, has managed to stand out despite its relative newcomer status and that made us want to check out its main offering – the Realme X7 Max. Given that the Xiaomi Redmi Note 6 Pro was pretty good, the Realme X7 Max couldn’t be overlooked but as we mentioned in our initial impression, it isn’t exactly the best mid-range phone out there. Does it disappoint in any manner? How about the X7 Max’s design and build quality? Let’s find out.

The Battery Life

On the Battery Life front, Realme X7 Max has a 4,230mAh capacity that is more than enough to sustain a full day’s work and play. Also, it sports a rapid charge that charges the battery from zero to 80% in just 1 hour and 42 minutes. In our usage, we didn’t face any issues with the battery performance and I managed to make it till the morning. On a bad day, however, it was just around 30% before I reached home, which is hardly sufficient. Realme X7 Max Review: Camera Realme X7 Max comes with a 13-megapixel+2-megapixel dual-rear camera setup that produces detailed, clear images in bright daylight. But, just like most smartphone cameras, things get complicated when there’s a lot of ambient light. After adjusting the brightness, the pictures turned out to be a little hazy and grainy.

Conclusion

Realme X7 Max Review: A Great Mid-Range Phone for the Masses Realme has released its first mid-range phone in the Indian market, the Realme X7 Max, for a price of Rs 16,990. The phone, which is Realme’s second offering, has a huge 6.3-inch display with an HD+ resolution, making it appear like a more expensive phone than it actually is. This is because the phone isn’t meant to offer the same performance as the top-end models, but it does seem like a great option for anyone who wants to spend between Rs 15,000 and Rs 20,000 on a new phone. Realme X7 Max Price and Availability Realme has launched the phone for a price of Rs 16,990. This is for the 3GB RAM and 32GB storage variant of the Realme X7 Max. Realme has released a Special Black variant for a price of Rs 17,990.
